We are Online Web Admin, a Canadian based company founded by Teresa Martin. We provide website design, website maintenance and consulting services.

What information do we store?

Subscribers

For users that register on our website, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their own personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). The website administrator can also see and edit that information.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. We use Akismet Anti-Spam service to assess comments for spam and it does pass some data to external servers to process.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Forms and Appointment Bookings

We store user input data sent through the forms and appointment forms on this website, along with meta information about the submissions, including the time stamp, the origin IP address, and the user agent (browser).

The information is sent as email messages that only a few people are allowed to access. The information is also stored in the database on our hosting server for backup and later reference purposes. We host this website and client backups at Dreamhost.com.

We also store documents provided to us by clients in an end-to-end encrypted storage with Sync.com.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

How long do you keep the information?

We don’t set a particular time limit on storing website information because we need it for future reference. If you want your information to be removed from our database, please contact us. We will remove it anytime there are concerns about your privacy.

Client provided documents are purged upon request, or six months after contract completion.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include linked or embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Online Web Admin is not responsible for how others run their websites and what information they collect about you. If you come across something objectionable in a link or embedded content, please contact us right away so that we can evaluate the situation.

Who we share your data with

We use certain third party services which may collect information about website visitors.

The Gravatar and Akismet services mentioned above are covered by Automattic’s privacy policy.

We currently use Google Analytics and Google Recaptcha (v3), both of which collect hardware and software information, such as device and application data and the results of integrity checks, and sends that data to Google for analysis.

We do not otherwise knowingly share your information with any other entity. The internet is however a mixture of secure and un-secure technology and software. Therefore, Online Web Admin works hard to keep the privacy and security of our clients and visitors as a core pillar of our services.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
